my taal op sy lekkerste

my oversees friends, this line is afrikaans and difficult to translate. i played with type and tread and love the result and look.

hier is weer ietsie eg suid-afrikaans, 'n sê-ding wat al weer amper onmoontlik is om te vertaal vir oorseese mense. ek het 'n bietjie met letters en gare gespeel en is mal oor die resultaat.

i love my laundry ~ not just a laundromat!

tjou-tjou's designs are on display at cape town's local laundry called ~ i love my laundry.
it's the first time that you can view tjou-tjou's products all together. also on display are two new products {see below}.
we kicked the event off with a laundry party the past wednesday, and dare i say, the hands behind tjou-tjou actually made a speech.

sjoe, en het tjou-tjou 'n warrelwind afgelope twee weke gehad. ek het nog rustig stunning koffie dedrink en dim sum geëet... die volgende oomblik begin ek reël vir 'n uitstalling saam met design kist by hierdie vreemde wassery met die naam, i love my laundry. 
ons het die uitstalling met 'n heerlike laundry party afgeskop verlede woensdag.

it's now official, tjou-tjou and design kist are collaborating. here are my jan pierewiet designs translated into surface design. my jan pierewiet designs are on sale as wall paper as well as beautiful material. design kist have an online shop and a facebook page if you want to cover your interiors with my jan pierewiet surface designs.
i'm proud to announce that tjou-tjou's jan pierewiet designs will be part of design kist's new range launching at the design indaba expo 2012.

the idea behind my designs:
jan pierewiet is the name of a south african afrikaans folk song as well as a local name
for a bokmakierie shrike, an indigenous bird. i grew up with my dad whistling the song
all the time. once you start to sing jan pierewiet, the catchy tune goes around and around
in your head.

the farmer's daughter

'sa home owner' did a interview with retha erichsen, the owner of 'the farmer's daughter' recently. they took beautiful fotos of her store. look at these two with my products in them.

bright and breezy this morning, i looked at the coolest blue kombie that retha, owner of 'the farmer's daughter', organised as a stall at 'kamers vol geskenke'. i took these photos of tjou-tjou's goodies that she is selling with her label called 'die spens'.

ek het vanoggend gou deurgery om vinnig 'the farmer's daughter' se stalletjie by 
'kamers vol geskenke' af te neem. 'the farmer's daughter' is 'n pragtige leefstylwinkel in die hartjie 
van stellenbosch. te danke aan retha, die eienaar, is 'tjou-tjou' nou in haar winkel en by 'kamers vol geskenke' beskikbaar.
kyk uit vir 'n baie oulike blou kombie met die titlel, 'die spens', aan die voorkant van die stalletje. 'die spens' is 'n handelsmerk van 'the farmer's daughter'.

you can do so much with them. what about a pot for a potplant or maybe use one as a vase.

'tjou-tjou' het nou ook grooooot blikbekers, net betyds vir 'kamers vol geskenke'. jy kan so baie met hulle doen, wat van potplanthouers, of dalk 'n blompot.

tried hard to snap my A5 letterpress artwork printed on acid free paper {an edition of 100} for you. they look so much better in real life. they will be available at the haas collective in the next few days. go and look at them up close.
